Have you ever heard of a Vision Board?
2018 is just TWO months away, time to start setting those new goals! Vision Boards are a great way to visualize all the goals you have in a creative way, and if you’re a visual person like I am, you’ll love this idea.
The first time I ever heard about this concept, was through Oprah, who had been discussion ‘Dream Boards’ on her show. She subsequently had a great section on her website where you could actually go and create one for yourself. While it doesn’t seem like you can do it on her website anymore, there are other ways to get it sorted.
But what are Vision Boards anyway?
A vision or dream board, is a lovely collage of images that represent everything you want to accomplish within a certain period of time. They are also super useful at keeping you motivated, and reminding yourself why you are working so hard, when things are tough.
It’s not news that visualization is an extremely useful tool when it comes to getting what you want. Loads of articles and research have been done on this topic, and it works. Athletes will probably be the first ones to tell you how important visualization is in their training.
Having a board can either be something physical that you make by hand and stick up on your wall, or digital. There are a few great places where you can go and create something digitally and use it as your desktop background on your laptop.
What can you include in your Vision Board?
The best thing about them is that there are no rules. You can include literally anything that motivates or inspires you, from material things you’d like to be able to have, to feelings and other dreams. Being a calmer person, doing more Yoga, drinking more water, quitting smoking, getting into a bigger place or finally buying a new car. Whatever it is that you want to do, put it on so you can see it every day.
If you’re more of a digital girl, like me, you’ll enjoy putting something together that you can put on your desktop or phone background.
To do this, create an account on CANVA
Once you’ve created an account (It’s free to use by the way), head on over to “Create a Design” and scroll along until you find the collage template. You can now drop in your own images, and change the layout, add text, change colours etc. You’ll get the hang of it pretty quickly, that’s what makes it such a cool tool, it’s really easy to use.
I’ve had a couple of vision boards over the years, and I’m going to commit to doing them more regularly from now on, because they really are awesome.
